This year ahead Bucuti & Tara Beach Resorts is celebrating our silver anniversary, 25 years of great success, prestigious awards, and fantastic memories. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have been a part of our Bucuti family and share some background on how we arrived here today.
Back on October 19, 1987, we opened the doors 11 days early to accommodate a request from a group of 30 travelers arriving from Austria. Little did we know that this date would also be “Black Monday,” as stock markets around the world collapsed. As you can imagine, this was not the start we had hoped for and I couldn’t help but think of the negative impact this would have on tourism and how our investments and sacrifices may have been in vain. Fortunately, that was not the case, and since that first group checked out, we have enjoyed over 90 percent average occupancy and grew from a staff of one gardener, six housekeepers and one supervisor to nearly 100 staff members welcoming 68,000 guests annually.
The staff and occupancy have not been the only things that have grown and evolved here at Bucuti. Since opening we’ve added our beautiful infinity pool, new front desk facilities, an on-site restaurant and perhaps most notably, the Tara Beach Suites which include 36 ocean view suites and four penthouse suites all featuring sophisticated, award-winning interior design built with the latest technology and eco-friendly features.
After the Tara Suites opened in 2004, the ambiance at the resort became conducive to adults on romantic vacations, and in response to this shift and guest feedback we decided to adopt an adults-only policy in 2010. We are dedicated to providing you with a quality experience and that means listening to your valued opinions and putting your suggestions into action. The adults-only policy is one example of how we’ve implemented guest suggestions into practice, as was the guest focus group that we consulted with when designing Tara.
Today, we remain as committed as we were 25 years ago to offering you an amazing experience and do so by adding additional resort amenities, continuously maintaining our rooms and implementing property upgrades such as the recent addition of celebrated restaurant, Carte Blanche. It is because of this commitment and the staff’s genuine hospitality that the resort has earned the recognition of travelers worldwide achieving a number of awards and accolades including, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and most recently a Condé Nast Reader’s Choice Award. We look forward to continuing to serve you, our guests, our community and our environment for the next 25 years and beyond and thank you again for your support.
