Restoring Aruba’s Native Beauty

The Bucuti & Tara GMC Nature Preserve is our living promise to protect Aruba’s biodiversity and restore its delicate ecosystems. Created to safeguard native flora and fauna, the preserve serves as a sanctuary for wildlife and a natural classroom for guests, locals, and future generations.

“What began as a small dream to rewild Aruba’s landscape is now growing into a movement for restoration.”

— Ewald Biemans, Owner/CEO

A Sanctuary for Nature and Future Generations

Once degraded by overgrazing and invasive species, this land is now being revived through reforestation, native plant restoration, and sustainable landscape management. Our goal is to create a thriving habitat that supports Aruba’s natural heritage, from native trees and cacti to the island’s diverse birdlife and pollinators.

Reforestation and Habitat Restoration

In partnership with local environmental organizations and volunteers, we’re replanting native species that once flourished in Aruba’s arid climate, like dividivi, kwihi, and watapana trees. These plants not only prevent soil erosion and improve air quality but also provide food and shelter for native wildlife.

A Living Lab for
Conservation

The Nature Preserve also functions as a living research area where scientists and conservationists can study the effects of habitat restoration. It supports biodiversity monitoring, seed collection, and educational programs for local schools. Guests are invited to visit and learn about the species that call the preserve home.

Be Part of the
Restoration

Guests can join scheduled visits or voluntourism activities to help with planting, trail maintenance, or educational outreach. Every small action contributes to restoring balance to Aruba’s ecosystem and creating a sustainable future for all.

A Legacy of Regeneration

The Bucuti & Tara GMC Nature Preserve is more than a conservation effort;, it’s a commitment to give back to the land that sustains us. As the preserve grows, it stands as a model for environmental restoration across the Caribbean and a symbol of hope for future generations.
