A Beach Open to All, A Stay Designed for Serenity

One of the most defining aspects of Aruba is not only its natural beauty, but the philosophy that protects it.

In Aruba, all beaches are public by law. This is a deliberate choice that ensures the island’s coastline remains accessible to both locals and visitors. It is part of what gives Aruba its relaxed and welcoming feel and why the island has long resisted the idea of gated or restricted shores.

Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort is located directly on Eagle Beach, consistently recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. While we are proud of our location, we do not and cannot claim ownership of the shoreline. What we do offer is a carefully curated, adults-only experience within our resort grounds, designed to support romance, rest, quiet and a genuine sense of ease.

A Thoughtful Approach to the Beach Experience

Within the areas where Bucuti & Tara provides loungers, umbrellas and beach service, we maintain clear standards. Our no-music policy, adults-only setting, and attentive beach team all work together to create a calm environment where guests can truly unwind. These standards are actively upheld throughout the day and shared through our “What We Are Not” list for our guests’ ultimate enjoyment.

We also believe that relaxation should never require competition. Bucuti & Tara provides loungers and umbrellas for all guests, and we are proud of our famous umbrella reservation system, which allows guests to reserve their preferred spot at 5 p.m. the day before. This service is included as part of the stay and ensures that guests never need to wake early or place towels to secure a place on the beach. Instead, they can begin each day knowing their space is thoughtfully prepared for them.

At the same time, the beach itself remains open. Guests may see families, locals or other visitors enjoying the shoreline nearby. This shared use is part of daily life in Aruba and reflects the way the island has always been meant to be enjoyed.

Caring for a Shared Shoreline

Shared beaches also come with shared responsibility. For almost 40 years, our team has carefully maintained our beach every day. Beyond that, over 33 years ago, Bucuti & Tara made a long-term commitment to caring for the wider coastline.

Through our voluntourism monthly beach cleanups, our associates and guests come together to clean the open stretch of beach between Coco Loco and Chalet Suisse. These moments are not only about keeping the shoreline clean, but about fostering connection and collective care for the island we call home.

We are also actively involved in protecting the leatherback sea turtles that nest on our beach each year. By safeguarding nests and raising awareness about their presence, we work to preserve this fragile ecosystem for future generations.

An Island That Continues to Welcome the World

For many years, guests experienced the stretch of Eagle Beach in front of Bucuti & Tara as especially quiet, almost secluded. While this was by intentional design, it was possible due to circumstances we no longer enjoy. In the past, the island welcomed fewer visitors, and much of the surrounding area remained undeveloped.

However, as Aruba’s reputation has grown, and its beauty has become known around the world, the ways people experience the island have evolved. In addition to traditional hotels, more travelers now stay in a variety of alternative accommodations across the island, and many seek out Aruba’s most iconic beaches during their visit. Situated on one of the world’s most celebrated stretches of sand, it is natural that Eagle Beach now draws a wider range of people who wish to enjoy it.

As a result, the coastline may feel more active at certain times, particularly during holidays or busier seasons. When appropriate, our team is always happy to engage politely and respectfully with neighboring beachgoers to help preserve the tranquil atmosphere our guests value. In most cases, these interactions are met with understanding. At the same time, the public nature of the beach means there are natural limits to what can be influenced beyond our designated guest service areas.

We believe it is important to be transparent about this evolution. Aruba’s beaches are living spaces, shaped by the people who enjoy them, and best preserved when care and respect are shared.

Calm Without Interruption

Although the beach is public, guests at Bucuti & Tara can expect a peaceful experience within our service areas. There are no roaming beach vendors approaching guests on our beach. Our beach attendants are present to support comfort and service, not to interrupt.

Through our red flag service, guests may order food and beverages directly from our restaurant and bar whenever they wish. When the flag is raised, our team will gladly assist. When it is not, we respect our guests’ privacy and allow them to enjoy the beach undisturbed.

Not Secluded, but Intentionally Designed

Bucuti & Tara is not designed to feel removed from the island around it. It is designed to offer a sense of calm within it.

For travelers seeking a fully private or exclusively controlled beachfront environment, Aruba may not align with that expectation. For those who value a serene resort experience paired with a genuine sense of place, this balance is often what makes a stay here meaningful.

A Beach Meant to Be Shared and Protected

We see Aruba’s public beaches as both a privilege and a responsibility. They reflect a long-standing commitment to access, respect, and care for the natural environment. At Bucuti & Tara, we embrace that philosophy not only through how we welcome guests, but through how we actively protect the shoreline and the life it supports.

Our goal is not to separate our guests from Aruba, but to invite them into an experience that feels considered, calm and rooted in respect for the island itself.
