Sustainable Travel in Aruba: How You Can Experience Earth Day Year-Round at Bucuti & Tara
Sustainable travel in Aruba takes on a deeper meaning at Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort. Here, Earth Day is more than a one day or one-week celebration. It is an immersive experience guests can take part in throughout their stay, anytime of the year at the Caribbean’s most eco-certified hotel.
From protecting Aruba’s pristine beaches to restoring natural habitats, Bucuti & Tara invites travelers to move beyond traditional tourism and become part of something impactful.
Earth Day 2026 in Aruba Becomes Earth Week at Bucuti & Tara
At Bucuti & Tara, Earth Day in Aruba extends into a full Earth Week experience, inviting guests to engage with sustainability in meaningful, hands-on ways. Each year, the eco-certified resort transforms Eagle Beach and surrounding areas into spaces for environmental action, wellness and community connection. In 2026, guests, associates and local partners came together to support initiatives that protect Aruba’s natural beauty.
A highlight of the week was the island-wide coastal cleanup. A total of 104 participants, including guests, associates, and local students, worked together to remove waste from the shoreline, collecting dozens of bags and large debris while helping preserve Eagle Beach.
Sustainability efforts also extended to The Bucuti Tara - GMC Nature Preserve, a protected 32-acre area dedicated to restoration and biodiversity. Volunteers removed more than 330 pounds of debris, contributing to long-term conservation and ecosystem health.
Throughout the week, guests experienced practical ways to live more sustainably. Activities included a sustainable wine tasting focused on eco-conscious production, a zero-waste mocktail class centered on reducing food waste, a cacao ceremony that connected wellness with nature, and our Movies Under the Stars featured the award-winning documentary highlighting Aruba’s conservation efforts Turning the Tide.
These experiences reflect Bucuti & Tara’s approach to sustainable travel in Aruba, where environmental responsibility is part of the guest experience and continues beyond the stay.
How Can You Participate in Voluntourism While Visiting Aruba?
Guests enjoy year-round voluntourism activities at Bucuti & Tara, making it easy to align travel with purpose.
Join Beach Cleanups in Aruba
Take part in the resort’s monthly beach cleanup, held every third Wednesday. Held for more than 30 years, this long-running initiative brings guests and associates together to help preserve Eagle Beach and protect marine life.
Bucuti & Tara is home to the widest stretch of Eagle Beach, a nesting site for vulnerable Leatherback sea turtles. Plan your visit around our Sea Turtle Calendar for a chance to witness hatchlings making their way to the ocean along a shoreline kept pristine through these ongoing efforts.
Support Conservation at a Nature Preserve
Visit The Bucuti Tara - GMC Nature Preserve and join us with reforesting protected haven for flora and fauna. Guests may assist with clearing debris, learning about native ecosystems and supporting biodiversity. And, keep an eye out for our national bird, the Shoco Owl. These burrowing beauties and our collaborative conservation efforts were just honored in person by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.
Experience Zero-waste Living
Hands-on classes, such as our complimentary zero-waste mocktail making, demonstrate simple ways to reduce food waste while still enjoying creative, high-quality experiences. It is a delicious way to connect environmental practices to taste and quality.
Reconnect Through Eco Wellness
Wellness experiences, including cacao ceremonies and mindfulness sessions, emphasize the relationship between personal wellbeing and environmental care.
