A Beloved Bucuti & Tara Tradition Debuts a Fresh New Blue

At Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, sustainability has always been part of the experience, woven seamlessly into moments you carry with you long after departure. The newest Bucuti & Tara canteen embodies this philosophy with a fresh new blue inspired by our Bucuti Light Blue, echoing Aruba’s sky and sea. While its color looks toward the future, the original Bucuti &Tara  logo honors almost four decades of mindful hospitality. The result is an elevated keepsake that captures memory, purpose and the joy of returning home with something that truly matters.

A water bottle with a purpose

More than 20 years ago, Bucuti & Tara became the first resort in Aruba to ban single-use plastics and Styrofoam. At a time when disposable convenience was the norm, we chose a different path rooted in responsibility and respect for our island home, and our guests’ Aruba home away from home.

Gifting guests a reusable canteen was a natural extension of that vision. It aligns directly with our action-backed commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) specifically to SDG 6, which focuses on clean water and sanitation for all. Aruba’s tap water is internationally recognized as some of the highest-quality drinking water in the world, exceeding World Health Organization standards. Guests are often pleasantly surprised to learn that the water flowing from every tap is not only safe, but is exceptionally refreshing.

Refilling a Bucuti & Tara canteen becomes a daily ritual during a stay, reinforcing the idea that sustainable choices can also be effortless and enjoyable. Water stations are conveniently located throughout the resort for convenient refills.

Measurable impact that matters

The environmental impact of the Bucuti & Tara canteen goes far beyond symbolism here at the Caribbean’s most eco-certified hotel. By eliminating the need for single-use plastic water bottles, the resort prevents an average of 290,000 plastic bottles per year from being produced, shipped and discarded.

This impact is especially meaningful on an island where plastic recycling options are limited and landfill space is finite. Reducing waste at the source is widely recognized as one of the most effective ways to protect fragile island ecosystems and marine environments. Bucuti & Tara’s early action continues to serve as a model for responsible tourism in the Caribbean and beyond.

More than a souvenir

The Bucuti & Tara canteen is a keepsake designed to stay useful long after a romantic vacation or honeymoon ends. Our guests often take it home and continue using it at work, at the gym, while traveling or simply as part of their everyday routine. Over the years, we’ve enjoyed hearing what they choose to fill them with whether it’s water, coffee, tea or recreating their favorite SandBar cocktail or mocktail!

Each refill becomes a quiet reminder of sunlit mornings on Eagle Beach, warm trade winds, and a resort experience where memorable vacations and sustainability coexist seamlessly. In this way, the canteen extends the Bucuti & Tara experience across continents and years, turning happy memories into daily action.

Looking ahead while honoring the past

The newest Bucuti & Tara canteen is more than an update in color. It represents continuity, progress, and even proof that small, thoughtful choices can create lasting change. By preserving the original logo and introducing a fresh, modern hue, Bucuti & Tara celebrates where we have been while confidently stepping into what comes next.

For first-time guests, the canteen is an introduction to the resort’s values. For returning guests, it is a familiar companion renewed. Either way, it is a simple yet powerful reminder that the most meaningful luxury is caring for the world we love to explore. With a nod to the past and a sip to the future…cheers!
