Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort Sets New Global Benchmark for Sustainable Luxury with Green Globe Platinum Recertification

  • Choosing where you travel to today is about more than beautiful beaches and exceptional service. More travelers want to know that their vacation aligns with their values. At Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort on Eagle Beach, Aruba, sustainability is not an add on. It is the foundation of everything we do.

Bucuti & Tara once again earned travel industry-specific Green Globe Platinum recertification, reinforcing decades of verified sustainability leadership. This milestone confirms that sophisticated hospitality and uncompromising sustainability can exist together, creating a romantic vacation experience that is as purposeful as it is memorable.

A world leader in verified sustainability

Bucuti & Tara remains the only hotel in the world to have achieved two perfect 100 percent Green Globe scores and continues to hold Green Globe Platinum status. Upon receiving Green Globe’s first-ever perfect score in 2016, it acclaimed Bucuti & Tara as the “World’s Most Sustainable Hotel/Resort,” an honor the property continues to hold subsequent perfect scores. This latest recertification followed a rigorous remote audit confirming continued excellence across environmental, social and economic performance.

As the world races to combat climate change, with 10% of devastating greenhouse emissions stemming from the travel and tourism sector, Green Globe helps industry members meet 44 criteria and 385 indicators based on a business’s type. The organization provides solutions, sustainability training, consultants and auditors, and even has communication services to connect with the rapidly growing number of travelers who cite sustainability as a key requirement in their travel choices.

For you, our guest, this means peace of mind. Every stay supports a resort that meets the highest global standards for responsible tourism.

Sustainability built on action, not promises

From the very beginning, Bucuti & Tara has focused on measurable results rather than aspirational language. Sustainability is woven into daily operations, from energy efficiency and water stewardship to ethical sourcing, staff education, community engagement and biodiversity protection. And, guests tell us we make it fun, such as the electricity-generating treadmills and bicycles in our Fitness Centre, which convert burned calories into kilowatts, clean energy that’s sent directly into our power grid.

For more than 38 years, Bucuti & Tara has developed more than 400 sustainability initiatives supported by globally recognized certifications including Green Globe Platinum, CarbonNeutral, LEED Gold and Travelife Gold. These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and have earned international recognition, including Bucuti & Tara to be the only hotel to ever earn the Global UN Climate Action Award. The United Nations described Bucuti & Tara’s program as “highly replicable and scalable,” encouraging hotels worldwide to follow its example.
