One happy island, one safe resort

One happy island, one safe resort

While guests enjoy that Aruba is referred to as “One Happy Island” and can be captivated with our beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches and friendly people, we think it is still very important to remind our valued guests year after year that safety must always be top of mind, no matter how safe or comfortable we feel.

In comparison to many other islands in the Caribbean, Aruba is a very safe place for both locals and vacationers. We are fortunate to not see the types of violent and drug-related crime that are more prevalent in other countries in our region. While some destinations advise vacationers against journeying beyond their resort, visitors to Aruba are encouraged to explore – whether it’s at Arikok National Park, which encompasses nearly 20 percent of the island, the wide variety of restaurants located around the island or our lively nightlife scene.

However, regardless of the overall level of safety, no tourist destination is immune to petty theft. And while it’s thankfully not a regular occurrence at Bucuti, we also want to remind our guests to be aware and remain smart.

  • We recommend that guests…
  • Lock away valuables when not in use; we provide a safe in every room
  • Lock your car or jeep upon exiting
  • Lock you balcony door at night
  • Try not to leave personal belongings unattended at the beach or in a car
  • Report any suspicious happenings or occurrences around the beach and resort to management
  • Avoid showing large amounts of cash in public

Our on-property surveillance system and electronic key system allow us to track and log the activity of everyone coming and going on the property. You may have noticed the cameras located in our common areas.  The safety, security and comfort of our guests are always of utmost concern, and we feel strongly that the surveillance system is a preventative measure that allows our guests to feel secure.

Prevention is key to maintaining a safe vacation environment, and it takes a little effort on everyone’s part, both management and guests. So remember – always lock your doors at night or when you leave your room. Keep an eye on your belongings when at the beach, or ask someone else to watch over them if you decide to go for a swim or walk. While these measures may seem basic, they eliminate temptation and are important to keep in mind no matter where you are vacationing.
