Why our pool is so cool

Why our pool is so cool
Nestled steps from our powdery white sand beach and right behind food-forward Elements Restaurant, Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort’s pool is almost like a best kept secret—yet, it’s right out in the open.

Surrounded with chic, cushioned loungers, the pool’s refreshingly cool waters are a welcome reprieve after a sun-filled day at the beach.

The infinity pool was designed when we first built the Bucuti wing with its 63 rooms. After adding 41 Tara Suites, we had the option to build another pool. So, why didn’t we?

Like so many things at Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort our pool is, in large part, a reflection of our guests’ ideal tropical experience.

Life is better at the beach

It’s a common saying and one we hear often, in one way or another, from our guests. We take great pride in our location on world-renowned Eagle Beach and have found our guests do, too. Listening to feedback, most guests travel to Aruba to experience one of the best beaches in the world, rather than lounge by a pool.

What we also heard from the majority of our guests is that they like the pool as it is; relatively small and intimate just like the resort itself. Creating a larger one would seem out of character with the Bucuti vibe and take away from the beach space.  We also hear that they feel the existing pool was perfectly situated, protected by the restaurant and close to the beach and bar.

Neither the beach nor the pool ever seems crowded. All of this considered we were convinced to leave well enough alone.

To be or not to be (hot)

That is another question we posed to our guests. The pool originally had a separate heated whirlpool, but few people took advantage of it. Guests shared that they prefer to keep cool in the pool in the tropics and warm up in a Jacuzzi in colder climates.

Like the pool, we also have a stylish infinity edge design for our whirlpool. When the whirlpool was heated, hot water would overflow into the pool, thus making it less refreshing for guests.

365 days of sunshine

Aruba has more sunny days than any other island in the region. So, for now we are letting Mother Nature (slightly) warm the whirlpool. By turning off the heater, both the whirlpool and infinity pool are enjoyed more than ever. And as a cool bonus, this natural process fits in nicely with all our environmental initiatives here at Bucuti.

Of course, we will continue to listen closely to our guests to ensure that they are happy wherever they choose to soak in the sunshine.
