One of the ways we extend our commitment to sustainability and compassion is through animal welfare. We are proud to share that beginning August 20, 2025, our resort-founded nonprofit, Stimami Sterilisami, can now make all spay and neuter procedures for dogs and cats across Aruba completely free of charge.
Aruba faces one of the highest stray animal populations in the Caribbean, and unchecked growth creates challenges for both animals and the community.
A single unspayed dog and her offspring can produce up to 67,000 puppies in six years.
A cat and her descendants can produce over 11 million kittens during the same time period.
Spaying and neutering prevents this cycle, ensuring healthier pets, safer neighborhoods, cleaner streets, and a more welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
Founded in 2016, Stimami Sterilisami has subsidized more than 41,000 sterilizations, dramatically reducing the number of stray animals in Aruba and preventing countless litters. Earlier this year, the program covered 100% of costs for rescue organizations and 50% for individual pet owners. Now, thanks to this surge of support, this vital service is once again free for all dogs and cats.
This milestone is possible because of collaboration:
Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort — proud founder and largest donor, contributing Afl. 400,000 in 2025.
Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) — steadfast partners, contributing more than Afl. 850,000 to date.
Tourism Product Enhancement Fund (TPEF) — doubling support in 2025 with Afl. 200,000.
One Love Foundation — raising international funds for Aruba’s animals.
Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA) — joining in 2025 with a donation of Afl. 5,000.
