Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort was honored last week with three prestigious accolades from the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) and Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx). These awards mean the world to us, reflecting our sincere commitment to excellence in the hospitality industry.
CHTA CHIEF Awards: Nurturing a Legacy of Sustainability
We begin with the CHTA CHIEF Awards. This year's gathering in Miami last week brought us recognition as the Hall of Fame Winner for Environmental Sustainability. It's a humbling acknowledgment that follows our win in 2019, making us the inaugural and only recipients of this honor.
The Hall of Fame for Environmental Sustainability recognizes our dedication to setting standards for sustainable tourism practices, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and conservation initiatives. Owner/CEO Ewald Biemans, expressed gratitude, sharing, "At Bucuti & Tara, we believe in the harmonious coexistence of memorable vacations and sustainability. This award mirrors our ongoing commitment to providing a world-class experience while preserving the natural beauty of our environment. Bucuti & Tara is always eager to shine a spotlight on Aruba."
Fresh off last year's Sales & Marketing win, we found ourselves as finalists for the CHTA CHIEF 2023 Award for Innovative Sales & Marketing. Our "What We Are Not" social media campaign created quite a buzz, showcasing our unique marketing strategies and the bold truth in setting guest expectations.
CMEx Leadership Award 2023: A Grateful Recognition
In addition, Ewald Biemans, received the Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx) Leadership Award 2023. CMEx acknowledges individuals who significantly contribute to enhancing tourism in the region through their diligent work and outreach efforts. Ewald Biemans expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you to CMEx for this Leadership Award recognizing Bucuti & Tara and our shared commitment to communicating the Caribbean’s progress, rich culture, and sustainable solutions with one another and with the world."

Next: Biemans’ Accepts Personal Invitation to United Nations COP28
Another exciting development is Ewald Biemans heading to the world stage at the invitation of the United Nations for COP28. This conference, deemed this year’s most important world gathering about the climate crisis, invites him to share the framework behind the Caribbean’s first and only certified carbon-neutral hotel. As the sole independent hotelier invited to be a launch signatory of the universal Glasgow Declaration for Climate Action in Tourism, Biemans aims to help others join the declaration and implement Bucuti & Tara’s sustainability initiatives declared “highly replicable and scalable” by the United Nations.
