Bucuti Beach Resort offers Wireless Broadband throughout the resort

November 14, 2003- - Eagle Beach, Aruba - - Deborah Anderson believes she has "found heaven", she explains as she enjoys the pristine Eagle beach from beneath her swaying Palm Tree.

I've got all I can possibly want....a "Dream Beach of the World" location, an attentive beach waiter and my laptop computer connected to the world at high speed. Bucuti Beach Resort guest Deborah Anderson is a financial planner with Smith Barney in New York City. "Being connected to work and family allows me to completely enjoy my vacation, knowing that the real world I've left behind is under control. We live in a 'connected' world and my laptop is now an item that travels with me everywhere, I would feel too out-of-touch without it."

The Bucuti Beach Resort on Eagle Beach is the first an only resort in Aruba offering wireless broadband connectivity throughout the resort, guest rooms and the widest stretch of their 14 acre white powder.

"When local phone company SETAR approached us to determine our interest in being part of their pilot wi-fi program our only question was 'how soon'?" states Susan Biemans. Susan and her husband Ewald Biemans own and operate Bucuti since Ewald developed the resort in 1987. Widely known for their early implementation of state-of-the-art technology in their resort, Bucuti was the first in Aruba to offer guests a business center with free high speed internet access and email accounts four years ago. Their innovations appear to have paid off, with the resort enjoying over 90% occupancies since opening. Consequently, 39 luxury suites are under development now to open March 19th, 2004.

"SETAR had the resort connected on the wi-fi system in less than a week, we are highly impressed and proud to be part of their project." says Susan.

Aruba's local telecommunications company has plans to implement wi-fi throughout the island's tourism infrastructure and several more hotels are in the pipeline to launch in the coming months.

"Aruba's tourism industry will certainly enjoy a healthy boost in both reputation and an increase in arrivals when the word spreads that wireless service is available." states Susan, "Incentive and group travelers who mix business with vacation will move Aruba to their 'A' list of destination choices from now on, while the rest of the Caribbean catches up." Connectivity in tourism no longer an option; it is a priority.
