Bucuti Beach Green Team coaches Jr. Minister of Tourism for 2005 Youth Congress

October, 2005-- Eagle Beach, Aruba -- Bucuti Beach Resort’s award winning Green Team was called upon recently to coach Jr. Minister of Tourism, Jairus Barry on Bucuti’s extensive environmental Best Practices.

Mr. Barry represented Aruba during the Caribbean Tourism Organization Conference last week and participated in a debate with other Jr. Ministers from other islands.

The Caribbean Tourism Conference provides an annual convention for regional tourism industry professionals. Through this forum, solutions to problems affecting the development of a viable and sustainable tourism product are addressed. CTC is the region's premier tourism educational and networking event. It provides a dynamic forum for regional tourism industry professionals to interact with their global peers. Through this interaction, delegates develop workable approaches to solving some of the concerns affecting the development of a viable and sustainable Caribbean tourism product. One of the goals of the Caribbean Tourism Organization is to get the youth more involved in the tourism industry. This is why they created different youth programs dedicated to youngsters of different ages. The Tourism Youth Congress is one of the activities under the Caribbean Tourism Organization's annual "Caribbean Tourism – Through the Eyes of Tomorrow" programme.

The rapid growth of tourism throughout the world will inevitably impact upon the fragile environments and cultures that the tourists actually want to see and experience. In the Caribbean region the tourism sector is becoming more dominant and expansive as we seek to create more income earning opportunities for our people and to generate important foreign exchange. However, to what extent are we in the Caribbean promoting Responsible Tourism in our region?As Junior Minister of Tourism how will you incorporate Responsible Tourism in the Tourism Development Plan of your country?
