Aruba's Doris Dreischor wins Supervisor of the Year at the Caribbean Hotel Association Conference

June 15, 2004 -- Fajardo, Puerto Rico -- Today, the Caribbean Hotel Association during their Annual Conference held this year in Puerto Rico honored Aruba's Doris Dreischor as the Caribbean's Supervisor of the Year. Doris accepted the award in front of an audience of more than 1,000 people in attendance including Minister of Tourism Edison Briesen, Mr. Jorge Pesquera, CEO of AHATA, Ewald Biemans, owner and manager of the Bucuti Beach Resort and Tara Beach Suites & Spa, where she works, along with tourism professionals from both the public and private sector representing Aruba as well as the entire Caribbean Region. Doris Dreischor manages Bucuti Beach Resort's Personnel and Purchasing Departments and has worked with Bucuti for over 10 years. During the awards ceremony, called "Salute to the Stars of the Caribbean" the large audience watched a video presentation about Doris where her talent and growth as a tourism professional through the years was celebrated. Bucuti did not inform Doris that she had won the award and the news was both a surprise and an emotional event for her. The entire room of 1,000 managers and professionals in the industry stood up and gave Doris a standing ovation. Bucuti secretly flew Doris' mother and brother into Puerto Rico to watch Doris receive the award and afterward they were able to celebrate the milestone in her career.

Susan Biemans describes Doris as "A bright young student who began working with Bucuti while she was still finishing her studies as a part time office clerk...she quickly demonstrated her eagerness to learn, her intelligence, business sense, and management ability, not common at such a young age, and it was not long before Doris received promotion after promotion. Ten years later, Doris is one of Bucuti's champion Department Heads, managing both the Human Resources department and Purchasing departments. Doris' steady rise from an entry level clerk to a manager of two departments should be an inspiration to all young women in Aruba, that consistent hard work and dedication works.
