For those of you who have been our guests in the past, you have seen how strong our company culture is with regard to the importance of sustainable practices.  Within our company and through stewardship, we do our utmost to promote awareness of our environment and how to protect it.   Therefore as you can imagine, Earth Day is a big day for us.  Below are our April 22, 2009 Earth Day activities.  We hope you will participate if you will be our guest this week!

8.30am: Beach Clean up

Bucuti’s owner, Ewald Biemans is the founder of the Aruba “Sponsor A Mile” program.  Once a month our Bucuti associates gather in the morning and beginning at our resort on the beach, they head north, armed with garbage bags and clean up our mile of road and beach area.  When we first started the sponsor a mile, our guests consistently expressed interest to join and ultimately we decided to inform them when it was happening, with an open invitation to participate.  Some days our guests out-number our associates and we are so proud to have such socially conscience guests!  For Earthday this year, let our concierge team know if you wish to join our beach clean up before 5pm April 21st.  They will equip you with a free Bucuti Beach Resort T-shirt.  concierge@bucuti.com

One Response to “Earth Day 2009”

  1. Dan Fox-Gliessman Says:

Susan: My wife and I just returned from spending a wonderful week at the Bucuti and I wanted to compliment you not only on the great staff and accomodations at the Bucuti but the amazing commitment you and the team demonstrate in the protection of the environment. We participated in the beach clean-up while we were there and not only enjoyed the fact that guests participated, but your staff did as well. I also wanted to note that one evening there were turtle eggs hatching and in addition to a group of concerned naturists helping shepherd the baby turtles back into the ocean, one of your bar tenders did the same. He illuminated the beach with his cell phone so he could see and was picking up the babies who were disoriented and walking them back to the ocean. I was very impressed with that commitment and concern. A similar experience in Mexico did not result in the same level of concern among that resort’s staff I can assure you. Please pass along my greatest compliments to everyone at the Bucuti from Deborah to the Concierge staff (Bettina, Mary Ann, Natasja) the bartending staff, Jose, your new Restaurant Director, the cleaning staff – everyone. You have truly set the bar high. We are very fortunate that Tom Wordinger insisted that we come to the Bucuti. It was probably the best and most fulfilling experiences we have had to-date in our travels. By the way, we are sorry we missed the Inconvenient Truth – one of our favorites. Dan and Deb Fox-Gliessman
