DE-CODING THE DRESS CODE HERE IN ARUBA

We often receive questions from our guests regarding attire here at Bucuti and Aruba in general. Like most destinations, there is a time and place for everything ranging from bathing suits to business suits. So, here are a few pointers on dressing up or down throughout your stay.

At Bucuti, we strive to create an experience that is both casual and chic. Therefore, after taking in the sun at the beach or pool, we encourage guests to wear an appropriate cover-up and shoes when walking around our lobbies, restaurants and bars. We also suggest guests apply this same principle when going into town or the local supermarket and note that wet bathing suits are not permitted to be worn when taking public transportation. There’s certainly no need to dress to the “nines” during the day in Aruba. Appropriate attire includes shorts and shirt, casual slacks or a sundress.

A Hidden Gem with No Hidden Fees

The beautiful white sand beach, the stunning sunsets and the starlit evenings are just a few reasons guests continue to visit us here at Bucuti each year. With the holiday season upon us and 2012 just around the corner we are looking forward to welcoming back so many extended members of the Bucuti family, as well as becoming a part of many more couples’ love story.

To help you prepare for your next trip we’ve listed our 2012 rates here on the website and wanted to take this opportunity to explain what exactly is included. Unlike 2011, the rates listed here are inclusive of all taxes and service charges. So when your stay with us has come to an end there’s no need to fear any added charges at check out.

Green Yet Comfortable…

As many of you may know Bucuti & Tara Beach Resorts has been at the forefront of the green movement for the past 25 years. From water-saving practices to recycling we are proud to have adopted a number of ways that minimize our environmental impact without impeding on your experience. One of the most innovative systems in place is our room energy management system by InnCom, which contributes to three vital parts of energy management: lights, air-conditioning/thermostat and humidity level. Don’t worry, there’s no need to remind each other to turn out the lights, because through this state-of-the-art system we’re able to take care of it for you. Also, a desired temperature is set for you, and the system takes care of the rest. So how does it work? InnCom’s automated guestroom system is able to sense when you enter and exit your room through a magnetic strip on your guestroom door and a motion sensor in your thermostat.

To Do or Not to Do?

To help prepare for your upcoming Aruba vacation we’ve pulled together some of our recommendations to make your trip easier and more enjoyable. Since many of our guests are returning visitors, we would also love for you to share some of your own helpful hints in the comments section below.

Don’t Miss Out on Learning about Aruban Culture
Learn more about the Aruban Culture through our local festivals. Every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. the Bon Bini Festival is held in Oranjestad. "Bonbini" means "Welcome" in Papiamento, and is the perfect way to experience the flavor of the island. Later in the week every Thursday at 6 p.m. the Caribbean Festival is held in San Nicolas. The festival highlights the Caribbean cultural heritage of San Nicolas through folkloric dance performance and displays of local arts and foods.

Pleasing the Palate in the Caribbean’s food heaven, Aruba

We are often asked why we do not offer all-Inclusive vacations and the answer is simply that we do not want to limit a guest’s experience, but rather enhance their stay by allowing them to select the restaurants that suit their personal taste. We have found that many of Bucuti’s repeat guests are seeking a diverse selection of culinary experiences. So while we welcome guests to enjoy dining with us at the resort, and offer delicious options on property, we also encourage them to sample and enjoy many of the unique restaurants on the island with our Dine Around Plan. For $39 a person, you can enjoy a 3-course dining experience at one of 15 restaurants that are members of the prestigious Aruba Gastronomic Association.

To tip or not to tip

From housekeeping to the bar and restaurant, to the front desk, Bucuti’s associates are the most essential element of your guest experience. Many of our visitors develop close relationships with some of our associates, and some of these colleagues have been with us for many years. Management does its best to show appreciation to our associates, and that is done in part with the compensation package we offer. The package includes a variety of unique benefits as well as programs to help stabilize their income through the various vacation seasons.

One of the programs involves a service charge we add to our restaurant and bar bills, which some guests have had questions about. Some wonder if the service charge is a tip or not, and if an additional tip is expected. So, we wish to give an explanation of that particular practice, to help you be more comfortable when signing a restaurant or bar check.

Cultural Divide – A/C or not in Fitness Center

One of the secrets to our success at Bucuti has been our ability to cater and appeal to an international audience. As many of you know, last year alone we had couples from over 25 different countries come to Bucuti just for their special wedding day. As successful as we have been, maintaining this balance can become challenging as guests from different cultures have varying expectations when traveling.

Your Eco Room at Bucuti & Tara

For over 20 years, Bucuti has focused on offering an exceptional vacation experience in a peaceful environment, with a commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy and sustainable environment at all times. Eco-friendly practices started early on coupled with the desire to create an allergy free environment for our guests. As a result, when we built Tara suites, we used state of the art safeguards, like farmed wood, energy-saving and air cleaning technologies, recycled and hypo-allergenic materials, and LED or CFL lighting. Even the new mattresses are made of all natural fibers and recycled materials.

Weddings Bells Ring on Eagle Beach

It is no secret that the main reason our guests return time and time again is for our invaluable commitment to delivering a romantic experience and memories that last a lifetime. In 2010 alone, Bucuti hosted over 65 destination weddings for couples from over 28 different countries. It is really an honor to see people from all over the world come to our beach to live their dream day. Additionally, we have many others who come to renew their vows or have commitment ceremonies on our exquisite beach. Over time, many of these couples return to Bucuti year after year to celebrate their anniversaries or just to reconnect with each other.

Aruba's Palapa Wars - Palapa Use on Aruba's Beaches (Thatched Shade Areas)

One of the aspects that has made Bucuti Beach Resort one of the most beloved resorts in Aruba has been its location on Eagle Beach, one of the Dream Beaches of the World. Couples who come here to celebrate their honeymoon, have a romantic vacation or exchange their vows have eternally enjoyed the peace and tranquility that our beach offers them during their stay. They have particularly loved having access to one of our many delightful palapas, which allows them to be near the ocean while enjoying great service from our staff for all their beach needs.
